This short Aerial Hoop sequence has some hidden surprises. While the Back Lion to Gazelle Sequence only has three level 1 skills in it, this sequence can be challenging even for students at a much higher level. There is an unexpected transition from a Back Lion into a Gazelle and then the sequence finishes with a less common transition into a Bird’s Nest that needs to be planned out before the very first skill.

At first glance the transition into gazelle is straight forward, but it requires a good understanding of the supports in back lion and gazelle. The transition into Bird’s Nest is much less clever, but to get it set at the bottom of the hoop requires pre-planning that has to be set up before entering the back lion. So even though this is a brief sequence, it does require a good bit of thought.
