Foot Block on Aerial Hoop is a fundamental position that is part of a lot of different skills. This shape is so fundamental that it can be hard to tell when a slight variation is worthy of being a new skill with a new name or not. This tutorial will cover many different basic entrances and minor variations. The Building Blocks section includes skills for the different entrances and variations, so some building blocks refer to specific entrances or variations and they all aren’t necessary before introducing Foot Block.
The basic principle of Foot Block is that the hoop is across the back supporting the body and one foot is on the hoop for balance and additional support. We also think that having one foot on or both feet on is still the same skill, although for clarity, if we want students to have both feet on the hoop then we will call it Feet Block or Double Foot Block.
