Arabesque Roll Up is a skill that we teach in the middle of our beginner level aerial silks curriculum, after students have worked on Crucifix Arabseque and easier roll-up skills like Candy Cane Roll Up and Splits Roll Up. This is a fun skill for students because there are a lot of dramatic shapes that we can find at the top of the roll-up.

Mastering this skill sets students up to begin sequencing roll-up skills together in interesting ways and in fact, many of our students use this skill in their first choreography. This skill also prepares students for skills such as Layanna that use the same body shape. And, it’s a good skill to use to drill strong external hip rotation since that’s necessary to make the skill work.
