Footlock Connections is a drill that helps students understand the connection between two different types of footlock. In fabric theory land, the only difference between a dancer footlock and a figure 8 footlock is the placement of the tail. That means that to get from one to the other, all we need to do is move the tail.

In beginner level aerial silk classes where students are learning a variety of footlock skills, introducing fabric theory like this adds another layer and helps prepare students for interesting transitions and sequences. We’d like our students to be able to look at the lock they’re in and know how to exit, and that’s what we use drills like this to teach them.
