This is a hollow body drill that looks simple but it’s incredibly effective at helping students understand the deep core and glute engagements we use in a hollow body position for aerial work. In this drill we use a low fabric knot, tied at about knee height or lower, and we set ourselves off center from the rigging point. We use that placement because the fabric will help extend and pull the legs away from the core, and that replicates the feeling of extending outward into space that’s so important for an aerialist.
This drill can be used as warm-up to help aerial students tap into their deep core and hollow body engagement.
