Windmill Hip Key in the air is a beautiful skill well worth striving for. It’s also a prerequisite for many drops on aerial silks, including Star Drops and other drops where the body is held horizontally as it rotates through space. This video focuses on the main components of a Windmill Hip Key.

In our aerial silks curriculum we teach a variety of entrances into Hip Key, including Footlock Into Hip Key, Knee Hook Into Hip Key, Hip Key Wrapped from the Ground, many variations of Hip Key in the Knot, and more. Many of the cues that we use in these various entrances are to help students begin to work on the complex actions of a Windmill Hip Key so that when they tackle this more challenging entrance they’ll already be prepared to succeed.
