The Standing Back Arch to Star Sequence on Aerial Hoop is a gentle sequence with some options to make it more challenging for students who already have a really good understanding of the skills. This tutorial includes two similar variations of the same sequence. One variation is easier and more stable and is a lot of fun for newer students. The other variation requires more grip strength and shoulder girdle balance.

We use this sequence mostly as a teaching sequence, but it can definitely be modified to be more performative. There are several skills in this sequence that have some important support and safety details and we want to make sure students remember them as they go through the sequence.

This concept of always remembering the important supports and safety steps is a habit that we instill in students from the beginning. We do it in these easier, safer sequences, so they already have it ingrained as a habit when they get to more dangerous skills and sequences.
