Arrow on Aerial Hoop is an important transitional shape. It can be used as a dramatic performative shape especially when done with a spin, but most of the time it will be used as a shape between two other skills. We like to have our students spend time building strength and stability in this shape, so we have made it its own skill in our curriculum. Once students are super strong and stable in an arrow then transition through the shape will look effortless and magical.

Arrow works just as well on the top bar as the bottom bar. The most direct entrance will be from an aerial dancing mount or a splits under the bar. Arrow may seem like an unnecessary skill for more advanced aerialists, but it is often an exciting and challenging skill for beginners, especially maintaining balance without looking up at the body. Because arrow has asymmetric legs, make sure students are training it on both sides.
