The Chariot to Knee Hang Press Through Drop Sequence on Aerial Hoop is a long sequence that can be used performatively or as a teaching sequence. We like it as a teaching sequence to work on the concept of exploring shapes without changing supports and connecting skills with less common transitions. The sequence is all fairly easy intermediate level skills which means it can be fun without a lot of frustration.
The sequence also ends with a drop which is exciting for students, but it is very important that students have their hoops set at an appropriate height for doing this drop. Make sure to remind students that they need to test that they have the room before they begin the sequence.
Most of the skills are straight from their tutorials. There are a few variations of skills that are explored in this sequence that aren’t part of the tutorials. These variations will be covered in this tutorial. The sequence doesn’t need to be taught from beginning to end. It can be broken up into separate sections just as nicely.
