The Outside Seatbelt is an unusual support on aerial sling, and as aerialists we always enjoy exploring unusual supports because they usually have a lot of interesting potential hidden in them. The Outside Seatbelt Exploration Sequence is an exploration where I simply set out to see what I would enjoy doing in the Outside Seatbelt wrap on sling.

Whenever we approach explorations like this with our aerial sling students, we start by asking them lots of questions. Can you feel your support? Where is the fabric supporting you now? What does that support require from your body? What needs to stay active, and what parts of your body are free to explore different shapes? What would happen if you tried this other thing here? Can you pause? What if you go the other way? There are so many different questions that can lead to different places on sling, and exploring the hidden potential in aerial skills is one of our favorite things to do when we teach an aerial sling class to our students.
