Back Balance is a fundamental aerial skill but it can be tricky for many students. We always teach it in the fabric knot first before applying it to skills out of the knot such as C-shaping skills like Slow Star Drops or backbended skills such as Layanna.

Back Balance in the knot is a skill that we come back to again and again. We introduce it towards the end of beginner level, and we refine it and challenge it in intermediate and advanced level aerial silk classes.

The idea of being tight and strong while in an extended and open position, and finding balance there while still breathing, can be challenging. Learning how to backbend with full body engagement is really important in aerail and this video focuses on the most important tips that we give our students as they learn this skill.
