Side Back Balance is an uber dramatic aerial hoop skill, especially when the hoop is very horizontal and the balance is rock solid. Getting everything to balance perfectly can be a bit of a project, but once the body is in the sweet spot for the balance this becomes a magical skill.
We teach this to our advanced lyra students. Because finding the balance can be so tricky in Side Back Balance, we usually introduce the skill as a longer term project encouraging students to work on it frequently, but for short periods of time. This skill takes some dedication but it is so worth it! Our video tutorial covers key alignment points and tips to make the skill successful.
