Pike Dismount to seated on aerial hoop is an unusual straight arm dismount from the top bar to the bottom bar. If you are new to aerial hoop this dismount may look simple, but it requires a lot of wrist and forearm strength, a good bit of compression strength, and a secret wrist action that we will cover in this video. The reward in doing this dismount is in the challenge of doing it cleanly, not just making it to sitting.
We think of this dismount mostly as a teaching tool. The benefit is in doing it with proper technique and learning about a new way to move the hoop to make room for the body. Unfortunately, the effort of the dismount is much greater than the visible reward. It is likely only another aerial hooper will appreciate the mastery of this dismount. However, we love the challenge and technique required to make this work.
