Mission Impossible, also known as Airplane or Skydiver, is an aerial silks move that our students love! It’s really fun and dramatic, but also fairly easy to set up. Even though this move is shown slowly with control, we still consider it a dive because if a student doesn’t stick the pose it can go quickly. With that in mind we take lots of time to prep our students mentally and physically to understand how it works and this class plan will take you through our process.
We teach Mission Impossible to students who are strong in their straddle ups, double crochets in the air, front balance, and back balance on the knot. This class plan assumes students already have those foundations, and it focuses on specific warm-up drills and related drills that we use throughout class when we teach this skill to our students for the first time.
We recommend watching the main skill video first and then going through the class plan to really understand where all the pieces fit and to think about the specific cues you might use in each drill with your students.
