This excerpt from one of our full length classes works on opening the front of our hip in a very active way. You will need some wall space or a sturdy object to press into for this drill.

This hip opener uses a pelvic tuck to help achieve true hip extension versus getting the leg further behind you using an arched lower back. This both protects your lower back and improves your hip flexibility for extended skills such as splits and backbends.

It is important to remain active and engaged with hip extensions to avoid undue stress on the anterior hip ligaments.
