This drill is to help develop a pathway for moving straight up and down on your apparatus, without leaning forward or back. This translates well to many transitions in the air including many beginnner skills such as going to/from standing in the knot or inchworm descent. It also helps aerialists use their entire body efficiently to conserve grip strength.

For this drill, having some wall space and a sturdy object to hold on to for balance will be useful.
