Amazon is a classic Trapeze skill that has been adapted to just about all of the aerial apparatuses. We remember first seeing an amazon many years ago and thinking it would be a power and strength move that we would never achieve. We especially love the classic vertical shape that from certain angles looks like the body is magically supported by nothing.
Over the years, Amazon on Aerial Hoop has evolved into a spectrum of different shapes that we categorize as low, medium, and high. We like to make sure our students are aware of all of them and can do all of them, but we don’t believe there is only one correct shape for an amazon. There are many different entrances to an Amazon, this tutorial will cover the basic entrances we teach the most.
