Back Arabesque with the hoop touching the outer thigh on Aerial Hoop is a very similar shape to a Back Arabesque with the hoop touching the inner thigh. The Outer Thigh Version is often much easier to get into, but we often don’t teach it until later.
Since we often teach Back Arabesque on the Inner Thigh first and the footwork for the inner thigh version confuses so many students, we have found that when it comes time for students to learn the much easier Outer Thigh version they overthink everything and confuse themselves. We warn our students this skill is much easier than they think it is.
