This Hollow Body Sequence is a teaching sequence that helps students learn about the concept of moving from their center and maintaining a position of strength. This sequence is especially great for students who tend to sink or collapse into their poses which will then make transitioning to the next pose more difficult. Any skills can be used in this sequence, but we like to keep it simple so students can focus on the concepts and not get distracted by the skills.
The goal of this sequence is to make sure students are layering personal style and creativity on top of strength and control rather than sacrificing strength and control.
The hollow body teaching sequence can be used with almost any skills that students have already mastered. However, skills that require a backbend for support won’t work. Incorporating recently learned skill into a sequence like this will build a lot of strength and control.
