Varekai is a classic shape named after a skill in the stunning trio trapeze act in the Cirque Du Soleil show called Varekai. This aerial hoop skill taps into shoulder girdle stability and core strength and it showcases backbends excellently.

Our super backbendy lyra students love to stylize this skill and our less backbendy students are often surprised how deep their backbends look in this skill. Varekai starts from inverted splits under the bottom bar which students should master first.
