Butterfly is a variation of Shoulder Hang that not only makes for a great photo but also requires great shoulder and back engagement to make it look good. We often teach this skill in Day 1 or bachelorette party classes, and it can be fun to add a swing or a spin to as well.
Butterfly is not only fun for new students but it also helps them understand the importance of good form in aerial training. It is also our students’ first introduction to the concept of making a backdrop with the fabric, similar to how we will make use of it in more advanced skills like Crossback Straddle and at the end of 360 dives.
