Silks

This aerial silks sequence is one that Jordan discovered by asking this question; “How can I get from a footlock into a back balance in an interesting and indirect way, without ever coming out of the wraps or supports to get there?” The result is an aerial fabric sequence that descends slightly down the silks as it goes, through interesting and intricate transitions that make use of fabric theory to turn supports into new supports in interesting ways.
This aerial silks sequence can easily be made longer by adding poses to the footlock at the beginning, or after the back balance at the end. This combo is a fun one to explore with aerial silk students who are interested in fabric theory and better understanding how moves connect, because knowing what support you are in at what time is crucial to making this sequence work. Our aerial silks tutorial video for this sequence covers the pro tips that make it work and points out the fabric theory moments and how they work.
