This Hip Hop Climb on aerial silks is typically the first skill we teach our advanced aerial silk students once they’re comfortable with the basics of the Hip Hop inversion. This tricky climb utilizes a reverse knee hook on top of the inversion to gain height. Keep in mind that Hip Hop is a challenging and advanced aerial silk inversion, and we only teach it to our advanced students with careful progressions to avoid injury in the body. Those progressions are detailed in the Hip Hop skill that’s linked in the Building Blocks section below, so be sure to check that out if the Hip Hop inversion is new to you or your students.
