Inverted Sit-Ups is a conditioning drill we teach in our beginner level classes. Once students are comfortable in a back straddle we begin working on leg crochets, and from leg crochets working on the sit-ups makes sense and it helps students get better with transitions that bring up above a Back Straddle, such as Seated Straddle and simlar skills.
Inverted Sit-Ups also help students learn to connect their legs to the fabric with a strong crochet leg, and to work against gravity to sit up as high as possible each time. At a more advanced level students will eventually do their inverted sit-ups from different supports including from ankle hangs and this drill is the very first introduction towards that.
