Lock Offs are a key aerial foundation and really important to train effectively. We introduce Lock-Offs right away in beginner level, and students will use some version of them for almost every skill they ever learn on aerial silks.
In addition to training great shoulder positioning and building strength for Pull-Ups, Lock Offs can also be taught to help students learn how to shift weight slowly from the ground to the apparatus. This will help students get control in their climbs and to stop themselves from swinging when they get onto the aerial silks.
Strong Lock-Offs lead directly to inverted skills like Inverted Tuck, Straddle Ups, and more, so they are important to train with an eye to detail.
