This aerial silks drop that we call Peter Pan Drop, progresses from the Peter Pan skill which is listed in our building blocks. Although this drop is simple, we typically wait to teach it until students are already familiar with Star Drops. The base wrap is similar to a star drop, but the motion and engagements are different, and we always want to make sure our students are comfortable falling through a same side wrap before they approach this silks skill.
This video tutorial covers the progressions that we use when we teach this drop to our aerial silks students. We cover key engagement and alignment points that are important to making it work. As with any drop, it’s important to train it with an experienced eye on you and use video resources to supplement the work that you’re already doing in person with a coach.
This is a really fun and satisfying aerial silks drop when it’s done with control, and our tutorial covers progressions to understand and master it.
