Pistons is a great exercise for students who can already enter, hold, and exit a strong Straddle Up with good form. Pistons is a drill that prepares students for knee hooks and inverted climbs and is especially useful to train before learning skills like Opposite Side Climb, Same Side Climb, Same Side Wrap, and any inverted skill where the knee hooks high above the hands for support.

Pistons trains deep core engagement, compression, shoulder strength, and power. This drill can be challenging and it’s useful as end of class conditioning or as part of an aerial warm-up to help with specific skills planned.
