S wrap is a really important and versatile support that’s used in all sorts of skills. There are countless entries into it and countless skills that can be done in it, and this video goes over the basic entry and exit, and important teaching points that we cover when we first introduce our students to S-wrap.
When we first teach this we teach it from a same side wrap using a switch switch entry. We want students to know that an s-wrap is very similar to same side wrap. A u-lock can be added to an S-wrap, and that’s where a Wheeldown starts. But, the wrap around the body without the u-lock is what we call an S wrap and there are many skills that begin here as well.
Once students understand this basic s wrap entry including really understanding what is supporting them in the skill and how to exit safely as shown in this video, then we start introducing them to the countless other S wrap entries that exist as well as beginning to explore important classics like Wheeldown.
