We discovered this aerial sling move by taking a skill that’s popular on aerial rope and translating it to the sling. On rope, the Hip Hop Climb is challenging, but on sling, we discovered a way to do it that can be very supported which makes it much more accessible. And because on sling we actually melt down into the support underneath us instead of climbing up like we do on rope, we named it the Hip Hop Melt.

This dynamic aerial sling move can also be done slowly. Our aerial sling tutorial video for the Hip Hop Melt covers teaching progressions, variations, and common mistakes to avoid with your aerial sling students.
