Same Side Crucifix is a fundamental aerial skill that we teach at the beginning of our intermediate level, once students are strong in their straddle up with energy to spare. Learning to put on inverted supports cleanly and with good technique sets students up for success in all the really exciting skills that come after, and clean technique in this skill sets students up for better Wheeldowns, Star Drops, and other skills that begin in a Same Side Wrap and require precise placement of the fabric behind the back.
Spending time perfecting this skill also sets students up to think about the wrap behind the back being an important support, even before the leg is wrapped to turm this skill into a Same Side Wrap.
