Back Straddle to Lock Off is a drill that we introduce once our students are confident with a basic Back Straddle in the knot. This drill starts prepping students for straddle ups, by teaching them to pull up away from the floor as they exit their Back Straddle.

We often use this drill in mixed level beginner classes because it’s appropriate for most newer students and really useful for someone who needs a little extra challenge added to their Back Straddle.

Mastering this drill helps students prep for inverted skills without the knot, including tuck ups and straddle ups. It also helps students build their pull up strength that’s so important on aerial silks.
