Plank Pull-ups are a good conditioning exercise for students who are not yet doing full pull-ups, and also for students working to develop better core strength for inversions. This drill is easy to scale up or down for mixed levels or for different purposes.

We often teach Plank Pull Ups as part of end of class conditioning sets, especially for students who are working to achieve their inversions in the air. Keeping the shoulders strong and engaged while the body is moving towards horizontal can sometimes be a weak point that prevents students from achieving their inversion, and this drill helps target that effectively.
