When I was new to aerial silks I never put much thought into wrapping skills from the ground. Besides standing on the ground to put on a footlock, or a hip key, it wasn’t something that ever came up. Until one day, early in my aerial career, I was hired to perform aerial silks off of a motorized rig. The choreography I was given started with a double star drop. But I was to wrap it from the ground, then the motor would pull me up, and when the music came in I would open up into a dramatic star drop. Cool idea, and a bit of a brain meld for me at the time!
