In our last blog post, we told you a bit about ourselves and how we got started in aerial. It’s one of the questions we get asked all the time.
We are actually fairly shy, quiet people. We both have teaching personas that are much more gregarious because you all bring out our best energy. Because of our tendency toward shyness, we don’t often talk about ourselves or the business. So today, we want to tell you more about how Aerial Fit Online is doing. You know the meme… where we were when we started and how’s it going.
When we first started our aerial journey, so many years ago, there were no local teachers and very few resources available to learn. There definitely weren’t any online resources, heck, Instagram didn’t even exist yet! YouTube had some aerial videos, but we would often get comments from our new students “I’ve watched ALL of the aerial videos on YouTube. Are there aerial videos anywhere else?”
Now a quick search returns approximately 2.5 million aerial videos on YouTube. If you watch videos non-stop, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year it would take nearly 10 years to watch that. And that’s assuming no one adds any more videos and just on that one platform…
When we started teaching aerial we realized that because of all the work and study we’d put into our own learning, skills that took us months to teach ourselves would only take minutes to teach to our students. Our goal was for everyone to have access to quality instruction, to avoid the struggles of having to learn from scratch.
We put years into developing and honing our own teaching. Training our students to think like smart aerialists and to become strong, creative, and empowered in the air. Teaching means training your coach’s eye and learning from those more experienced than yourself. Solving the problem of starting from scratch means training really strong fundamentals and understanding of theory, so we put our energy into building something that would help us distribute that knowledge more widely.
We had the idea for an online resource for years before we actually began building it. Of course, our curriculum and drills have been in development for over a decade, but because we teach full time we never actually had the time we needed to develop the online resource until COVID closed our studio temporarily.
It was a scary time but definitely gave us the kick we needed to put our dream into reality. The time we needed to dedicate to developing this resource would not have been available had it not been for the pandemic.

Here are some exciting numbers as of December 1st, 2022.
Aerial Fit Online launched on July 26th, 2022. Nothing like a nice even number like July 26. 🙃
2023 is going to be another busy year for us. We’re working to develop even more resources to help our members with their teaching goals, training goals and overall aerial awesomeness!
Our Hoop library is coming in full in January 2023. Expect a full cross-referenced library of skills and sequences with proven teaching techniques that work for a large variety of students. This library will keep growing and evolving, just like the silks library continues to do.
And, in 2023 we begin work on our Sling Library. We’ll be updating our members and on our social media pages.
You can get in on the fun right here.
