There are 3 main foot positions that we teach beginners. Each position should be strong and intentional. A strong, flexed foot is important for foot and ankle health in certain footlock skills like Candy Cane Roll Up. A pointed foot helps create a cleaner, longer line, and can prevent the foot from getting tangled when removing wraps. And the less familiar “push foot” is integral to a basic stand and climb. We often add these foot positions into different parts of our ground warm-up, to make sure the feet and the brain are ready.
