In our curriculum, Candlestick on Aerial Hoop refers to a type of leg support where one knee is bent and the other leg is straight with a foot flag. Each leg provides support. Often the knee hook is holding the majority of the weight and the foot flag is keeping the hoop locked into position or providing balance, but this isn’t always the case.

Skills with a Candlestick support are usually more advanced skills on Aerial Hoop, because they typically require a lot of strength and awareness. This tutorial will cover the basics of the Candlestick support, but basic doesn’t necessarily mean easy.

This tutorial covers a number of different candlestick variations, but they all have easy and direct entrances and exits. We like to get our students familiar with the concept of a candlestick support before they try some of the more advanced variations with complex entrances and exits.
