The Clock Splits to Half Hip Hang Sequence on Aerial Hoop covers a lot of territory starting from the top of the hoop and traveling down to the bottom of the hoop. This sequence is very performative and ties together a good number of intermediate level skills. Since most of the skills in this sequence are time consuming projects just by themselves, we always make sure our students are very familiar with the skills before introducing the sequence.
There are a couple of unexpected transitions between skills that aren’t included in the skills’ main tutorial pages so we will cover them in this tutorial. There is a quick transition into vertical clock splits that is often scary at first since it feels non-intuitive, but is surprisingly easy with practice. The entrance to shoulder stand is also less common and requires a good understanding of hoop manipulation to set it up nice and vertical. There is also an entrance to back balance, which looks easy because gravity is helping, but always gives our students a bit of trouble while they are learning it. We will cover all of these unique transitions in detail in this tutorial.
