The Opposite Side Faux Single Knee Hang on Aerial Hoop is a fairly unusual skill. It started as a progression for some more advanced skills, but so many students liked it as its own skill that we added it to our curriculum. It is very similar to the basic faux single knee hang, but the knee hook is on the opposite side of the spanset. So if it is the right knee, it is hooked on the left side. All of the principles learned in the basic version apply here, but this version is more difficult because of the instability created by hooking the knee on the opposite of the spanset. We always have students review and refresh the basic version before working on the opposite side version.

The opposite side faux single knee hang looks really stunning and there are a lot of simple leg and arm variations that students can explore to give this skill their own style and look.

The Opposite Side Faux Single Knee Hang is a very stylish looking skill, but it does require a good knee hang strength and a decent amount of external rotation in the hips. We always have our students train their skills on both sides, but because of the intense asymmetry of the skill it is super important to keep the body balanced by training both sides equally.
