The Single Glute Seated Straddle on Aerial Hoop is a skill one of our beginner students discovered on their own. It is a simple skill, perhaps so simple it took a beginner’s mind to find it, but everybody liked it so much we kept coming back to it and eventually it made it into our beginner curriculum. Students love that it looks awesome and it is really easy to do which is a nice combination. As teachers we love that it gets students working their deep abs and hip abductors as well as using a lot of stabilizing muscles to hold the asymmetric shape.
This skill is so simple it is easy to overlook it, but we have found that our beginner students love it. And now we love teaching it. And it does build a lot of core and hip strength.
