Single Shoulder Stand Varekai on Aerial Hoop is an elegant and fun add on to a Single Shoulder Stand. If a student has already thoroughly trained the single shoulder stand and varekai skills then this will be a really easy combo for them to pick up. Skills that are dramatic and relatively easy always make for empowering experiences and fun classes. This tutorial will cover several different entrances and exits.
Even if students are really good at all of the different entrances to a Single Shoulder Stand, we usually introduce the varekai variation from the easier lower down entrance. This entrance allows for the most opportunities to set the grips and body position exactly how each student prefers. All of the demos demonstrate the skill with releasing the low hand, but it isn’t necessary to do the skill one handed and we never force our students to release the hand.
