The Star to Back Lion Infinite Sequence on Aerial Hoop is one of our favorite teaching sequences to help students really master the basic transitions for Front Lion and Back Lion. It is really important that students are very familiar with both Front Lion and Back Lion before working on this sequence, otherwise it is likely they will find the whole thing overwhelming.
This sequence will often confuse students because it can disrupt their muscle memory if they are used to doing each skill in isolation. Overcoming this confusion and reliance on pure muscle memory is so useful for our students. While we consider this to be a teaching sequence, these transitions pop up in a lot of aerial hoop choreography.
All of the skills in this sequence are relatively simple, but keeping everything organized and the technique clean is where this sequence becomes challenging.
