Basic Trapped Heel Hang Splits on Aerial Hoop is the first step in a larger series of skills. Many of the more advanced variations use complex or confusing entrances, so we teach the basic entrance and exit as a stand-alone skill.
Even though this is an intermediary skill, there are valuable concepts to explore. It’s a great opportunity to get familiar with the sensations of having the leg trapped in a deep split and to build strength and coordination for the exit pathway.
This tutorial includes a variety of easier entrances on the bottom bar and the top bar, plus the primary exit we use for most variations. We don’t always teach the same entrance first. We will vary the entrance depending on what other material students have been working on recently.
