The Trapped Lever Splits to Side Ball Roll Sequence on Aerial Hoop is an advanced sequence that strings together several difficult skills with one tricky transition. Students love how dramatic this sequence is. As teachers, we like that the sequence doesn’t have many obvious resting moments. There are places where some body parts can rest, but these moments require some other part of the body to be working hard and the brain staying focused on control and balance.
This sort of sequence is great for building mental and physical stamina. It is also a good sequence to teach the idea of finding or making rest moments even while doing advanced skills.
Most of the transitions in this sequence are straightforward and covered clearly in each skill’s tutorial. There is one transition that is a little sneaky and we will cover it in detail. For students who have mastered their fundamentals and building blocks, there is a lot of opportunity for style and creative exploration in this sequence. If students are a little less experienced with the building blocks just getting through the sequence will be enough of a challenge.
