The Twisted Scissor to Open Angel Sequence on Aerial Hoop works just as well as a teaching sequence as it does as a performative sequence. It combines beginner skills with interesting transitions, but is still very accessible to beginner students. What we like about the sequence as teachers is that it helps students make connections between seemingly unrelated skills. The sequence also starts and ends in a Hollow Body Seat, so the sequence can be used as an infinite sequence if desired.
Students like how the skills twist and roll around the hoop, especially the twisted scissor and the roll to angel transitions. They also like that the sequence is fairly long and goes to unexpected places. The sequence includes a knee hang at the bottom, so the hoops do need to be hung high enough for a knee hang, but if that isn’t an option then the knee hang can be skipped.
