Front Balance Rocks is a drill in the fabric knot that’s great for learning how to drive the legs behind the body and arch up at the same time. We teach this in our intermediate level aerial silks classes and it’s useful for many arched body skills on aerial silks.
This video shows two slightly different variations that we teach, one from a lower knot that uses the floor for a bit of support, and one from a higher knot where the aerialist can’t touch the floor. When introducing it we introduce both versions because we’ve found many aerialists have a mental block with moves like this and some really prefer to be able to use the floor and some really prefer not to have the floor too close. This drill is effective either way.
