Meathook is a challenging aerial silks skill. Meathook is a one armed inversion, and to stack the spine vertically requires moving sideways into it. In our aerial silks curriculum we teach meathook at an advanced level, once students are really strong in their straddle ups and other aerial inversions in the air. Meathook requires strong stable shoulders and core, and the ability to sidebend effectively, and we cover important alignment and engagement cues in this video.

In our aerial silks curriculum we teach Meathook as a pose, and also as a transition. As a pose, Meathook is often displayed with one arm free. As a transition, Meathook can take us into same side and opposite side knee hooks, hip keys, s wraps, and more and we cover those options in this video as well.

This video includes progressions for lowering down into Meathook, lifting up into Meathook, sidebending effectively, and using Meathooks to enter straddle ups, knee hooks, hip keys, s wraps, and more.
