Opposite Side Crucifix is a skill that we teach at the beginning of our intermediate level aerial silks curriculum, after our aerial silk students have mastered their Straddle Ups, Opposite Side Knee Hooks, and Same Side Crucifix supports. Although it seems simple, this tricky fundamental  is actually really important because it sets the foundation for more advanced aerial silk skills like Opposite Side Dive (Salto), or any skills that come from an Opposite Side Wrap.
This skill can be tricky because the fabric tail seems very far away and we can’t see it as we reach for it. Our aerial silks teaching tutorial video for this skill covers three different entrances for different bodies and learning styles, as well as progressions that we use to help students master this tricky movement and then build on it into more advanced skills.
