We first started teaching Ball Balance On Top on Aerial Hoop as a progression for getting into the skill Ball On Top. After seeing how valuable it was for a number of other skills and how much students enjoyed it just by itself, we decided to add it to our aerial arts curriculum and video library as its own skill. It can be stylized in many ways and it is a great way to teach students the concept of researching the edges of their control.

Ball Balance On Top is a very stable shape within reason, finding the edges of control can be valuable for moving into more advanced shapes. Have fun, but be careful if you go too far you can slip right off the side of the hoop.
