Windshield Wipers is a great drill for anyone starting to learn meathooks on aerial silks, or any skills that require a similar body position. We teach this drill to students who already have strong and confident straddle ups with good consistent shoulder and core engagement, which is why we’ve put it in Level 3.
This is a drill that can be started small with tiny movements and eventually made larger with bigger movements as strength and movement understanding progress.
This drill might look like it’s the legs moving but in reality, the movement is initiated by sidebending in a smart way. This drill culminates in a straddle meathook, and training this is helpful for skills including various entries into S wrap for Star Drops and Wheeldowns.
